Bel Air

Bel Air is one of the most affluent and exclusive residential communities in America and is located North of Sunset Boulevard in the hills of Los Angeles.  Along with the neighborhoods of Beverly Hills and Holmby Hills, it forms an area known as the Platinum Triangle.

Residences in Bel Air tend to be private and hidden from the winding roads on which they sit.  They range from modest ranch style houses to multi-million dollar mansions on expansive well-manicured grounds.  Multi-family housing is not permitted in Bel Air and ordinances regarding architectural styles, landscaping and lot sizes are in place to preserve the overall look and feel of Bel Air.

The community was founded in 1923 by real estate developer, Alphonzo E. Bell, Sr. Bel Air is bordered by Brentwood on the west, Westwood on the south, Beverly Hills on the east and Sherman Oaks on the north.  The two most well known entrances to Bel Air include the East Gate at Beverly Glen and Sunset Boulevards, and the West Gate at Bellagio Road and Sunset Boulevard, opposite an entrance to UCLA.

Bel Air has long been home to an impressive list of Presidents, celebrities and socialites including Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor, Nicholas Cage, Meg Ryan, Rupert Murdoch, Lauren Bacall, Alfred Hitchcock, Raquel Welch  and Steve Martin, among others. The Bel Air Country Club and the Hotel Bel Air are two of the better known establishments in the community of Bel Air.
